NATURE CONSERVATION
in Panama.
The importance of forests cannot be underestimated. We depend on forests for our survival, from the air we breathe to the wood we use. Besides providing habitats for animals and livelihoods for humans, forests also offer watershed protection, prevent soil erosion and help fight climate change.
The commercial forestry activities allow Ecoforest to implement the active conservation and restoration of 4,240 hectares of natural forests in various stages of recuperation after human intervention in the years before the concession establishment. The combination of forest plantations and natural forests form a buffer between the urban and agricultural expansion in the Province of West-Panama on the west side and both the Gatún lake and the surrounding Natural Parks and Refuges on the east side. As such it creates a corridor between among others: Isla Barro Colorado and Isla Gigante (both administered by the Smithsonian Research Institute), the refuge “Bosque Protectora de Arraijan'' and the National Parc “Camino de Cruces”.

Rapid Wildlife Surveys
Panama Wildlife Conservation is conducting Rapid Wildlife Surveys by using our camera traps. The purpose is to identify animal species in the area, what state the reserve is in, what its potential is and possible threats. This video and report was prepared by Panama Wildlife Conservation Charity’s field biologists for EcoForest Panama.
